"THE 'B's in SPRING"
April 29-31
Timothy Schwarz, violin/viola and Daniel Weiser, piano
Works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and Bernstein

The return of the "Upper Valley Duo," founded in the Upper Valley back in 1994.  The Duo won the 1996 U.S. State Department Artistic Ambassador Competition and were sent on a two month, eleven-country tour of the Middle East and Southeast Asia.  They performed over 50 concerts and Masterclasses in such places as Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Israel, and more.  U.S. officials called them "brilliant cultural ambassadors" and "one of the very best we have ever programmed." International newspapers called their music "a melodic revelation" and "an irresistible introduction to..American music."

Tim Schwarz, violin, is currently Assistant Professor and Head of Strings at Rowan University in New Jersey. He has won numerous awards and competitions as a performer and concertizes regularly in Europe, Asia, and throughout the U.S. Schwarz made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the age of nine, one of the youngest violinists to have ever soloed with this legendary institution. As a winner of the Starling competition, Dr. Schwarz received a Bachelor of Music from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he studied with the legendary pedagogue Dorothy DeLay. He went on to receive a Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory and a Doctorate in Musical Arts from Temple University. His violin is a J. B. Vuillaume made in 1830. Works by Beethoven, Faure, and Kreisler

This concert features the return of Hanover native Roseminna Watson, who first performed with Classicopia as a teen-age phenom almost 15 years ago.  She has since studied with some of the finest violinists, including Ani Kavafian, Pamela Frank, and Phillip Setzer, and received graduate degrees from Stony Brook and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  She was the first violinist of the prize winning Aiana String Quartet and is now a founding member of MOHINYA, a violin and cello duo whose mission is to re-contextualize Western Classical Music so that its depth and emotional power can be better understood and received by a greater number of people, young and old alike.  Don't miss the return to the Upper Valley of Rosey and her incredibly passionate playing.
